In honest fairness, we would give this product 1.5 stars, but that isn't an option. We don't "hate" it, but the dislike goes above a basic dissatisfaction.My 15 year old daughter suffers from an awful case of Celiac Disease. Eating gluten-free is not a choice for her - she cannot include gluten in her diet because it makes her very sick. It is pretty common knowledge that most foods don't taste the same when the gluten is removed. Many foods taste dry and have a "weird, gross" flavor (her words). It's been a hard road for her to totally change her diet, so we've been on a mission for the last year to find foods she actually likes and will eat. A lot of gluten-free foods are more expensive than their "regular" counterparts, which is frustrating when we buy gluten-free...I spend the extra money on the gluten-free products her diet requires, then the food goes bad because she just can't make herself eat it. Since I kinda like her, I would like to find foods she enjoys and is able to eat until she is satisfied. It's also important to me that her diet is as nutritionally balanced as possible. (Well, as much as a teenager's diet can be! ;) )So we ordered a wide variety of gluten-free foods from Amazon. I don't think either of us realized the diversity that's available in this area. We were both incredibly stoked when we found so many different foods we could try. Our rule was that we would order things that looked appetizing to her without worrying about whether she liked the foods. If we got something she didn't like, that was fine - we just needed to try a bunch of different things so she could expand her food choices beyond Udi's bread and peanut butter. The Katz Gluten Free Cupcakes were one of the first things she wanted to try, so we ordered. She was pretty excited when the Amazon box arrived, containing all her goodies.She immediately opened these cupcakes and grabbed one. As soon as she bit into it, her face changed. She said these are "dry and not good at all" - that they don't compare to regular cupcakes in any way. I told her the chocolate icing should be good so maybe she should try licking just the icing. Nope. Not going to work. We did find some things she likes - several of which we've ordered a few times since placing that original order of "try me" foods - but this was not one of them. I also have a 19 year old son who came over one day and he wanted to try one. One mouthful and it went in the trash. And that boy will eat just about anything! They both agreed the cake part was much harder than stale bread and that the frosting didn't add any sort of beneficial or flavorful "covering" for the nastiness of the cake. We paid just under $6 for the 4 cupcakes, but there was a whopping $9.49 shipping fee. I would NEVER pay that much to ship some cupcakes - I don't care how good they are. I definitely wouldn't pay it for food that's just going to be thrown out. I paid the exorbitant shipping fee because you can order as many gluten-free products as you want. I'm not sure if there is a list of items that fall under that $9.49 shipping umbrella, but we noticed that all the gluten-free foods we were looking at had that same shipping price - and after placing everything in the cart, it only charged us the $9.49 once. So the shipping isn't too bad when you order multiple products, but ordering at least several at a time is the only way I would do it. We wound up ordering 16 different gluten-free items in that first order, and some of the items contained multi-packs, like the box of 12 KIND Nuts and Spices Chocolate Bar, which she LOVES. I was surprised at the taste of a non-dairy cupcake.These aren’t bad for gluten free. They have no aftertaste. And they are so cheap to buy.Delicious Cupcakes! My gluten free children love these cupcakes. Just then right amount of sweetness. Texture is perfect, moist not crumbly. Well packaged. We will be trying the chocolate one next.Quick delivery. The price isn’t bad and these are really good. Microwave them and they are nice and soft.If you like dry, stale, hard cupcakes these are the ones for you. Very disappointed. Awful!
