I bought the PurMist for my mom and she loves it.The device:I bought two devices, one for me and one for my back up vocalist (band name is Voltreus). This thing is incredibly soothing and comforting. After a hard day's of shows or practice, I always look forward to turning my device on the hottest setting and just breathing. It helps hydrate my vocal chords and clear out congestion. It is one of the most relaxing things to do at night.Now for the company:The device I bought for myself died, for seemingly no reason, after 3 months. I even tried putting an extra water in it to see if it had to do with the water, but it didn't. I explained the situation and the company sent me a new one and told me it'd get here in 3-4 days. The device got here in 2 days with like 12 waters (instead of the normal 5 or 6). They honor their year warranty with few questions asked. I was pretty mad at first, but now I'm just impressed. If there was a 6th star, I'd give it.Company has been contacted more than once. Through Amazon and on their website. They still have not responded and replaced this much needed unit for chronic laryngitis. Works only marginally due to defects previously outlined.Pricey and add in quality control makes it a don’t buy. The power button doesn’t cycle on and off. Have to pull plug to turn off. Only cycles between blue on and green which becomes fan without steam. The indicator gets hotter with more lights going up, but doesn’t go up to highest light. The speed of the fan to blow the steam goes down with the lights going up. What happens on the unit does not match the instructions. Was urgently needed for bad prolonged laryngitis, so I have a dysfunctional partially functioning unit that I need to use despite the flaws and failure of function.I sure hope the company reads this and reaches out to me and replaced ASAP. As a healthcare professional I can not recommend in this situation. The battery powered unit was not ordered as you can not use just straight distilled water you must buy their prepackaged water. That’s just not acceptable and that is more money still for the unit. Is that one even rechargeable?I cannot tell you just how wonderful this product has been for me. I live in a very dry desert climate and the moisture produced by this product is simply fantastic. I suffer from sinuse congestion and well as allergy symptoms, and this products deals with all of them. I used to have a room vaporizer that I used in the winter, but this product does a much better job for me. I would recommend it highly for anyone who suffers from allergies, sinus congestion or even colds.It stopped working after a month. I used the water that came with it first and all was fine. Then I used my own distilled water and it's just flashing an orange light. I thought maybe there was a problem with the outlet, so I tried a few different outlets and nothing. Tried different water, and nothing.If it lasted longer for the price it would be a perfect device. It was helping me with issues I've been having with my throat. I loved it while it lasted!Does this product not work with your own distilled water? It's a bit of waste to have to use their bottled distilled cartridges if so.My allergies were out of control! I could not find an over-the-counter product that relieved my symptoms. I was fearful of becoming reliant on any product for the minimal relief I was getting. I saw a commercial for MyProMist and decided to give it a try. I am FREE from all my symptoms and don't have to put any drugs into my system. I have recommended this product to my friends. I describe how simple it is to use and then tell them that "I would buy this at 10 times the purchase price!!!!" Thank you!!!Replacing a frying pan for steaming my nose and throat. More costly, yes, but definitely a more effective and more elegant solution ?(Edit) Device failed next day after this review. A short e-mail to TechSupport was answered promptly and a replacement was shipped immediately without further questions. Return of failed device was not required. Excellent support!(Second Edit) Replacement device failed after five weeks with same problem (heater failed.). The device was beginning to really help my sinuses and it is a real disappointment - the concept is good but it is poorly designed and/or manufactured.. I seldom write negative reviews, but I feel it is necessary to warn others to not purchase a MyPurMist. My $100 was wasted, do not waste yours..(Third Edit) The company is determined - they sent a third device. And this one failed exactly the same way yet again, with the heater no longer working after using the device twice a day for thirty days (one half liter bottle of medical grade distilled water.) So I am back to using another brand which is much less convenient to use, does not help my breathing as much, costs a third as much, but the heater still works. MyPurMist, if you choose to solve the heater problem please feel free to send me a fourth device and I will be happy to try again. But at this point, not only my money but my time and a big pile of shipping materials have been wasted on this purchase.First off, I love this product. It's really a great personal steamer and does the job. However, after only 4 months, it's not working any more. All I get is a flashing red light. I only use the MyPurMist sterile water in it, so it's not impure water like their FAQ's suggest. I've reset the unit per the instructions, still nothing but a blinking red light. I've emailed the company, but haven't yet heard back. I do love this piece of equipment, but honestly, for $150 it should run longer. I've done some searching on the internet and have found quite a few others dealing with the same issue. So, I would recommend this, with the caveat of being careful.We had a MyPurMist vaporizer that had stopped working and bought another. The new one worked well for a few weeks but suddenly, the mist generated has become much less - even on the highest setting. We have always used distilled water and followed all recommended procedures but although the thing still works, it's weak and ineffective. At one time after a session, my face would be soaked and my glasses fogged. Now, it just puts out damp air.I liked this product the first time I purchased it, but the device malfunctioned after a few months. I read reviews that complained about this product malfunctioning, but I decided to take a chance and purchase it again.....unfortunately when I received it, it was not working!Piece of JUNK, do NOT buy!! The brand new device I ordered worked for literally 10 seconds and then broke!! But don't take just my word, there are plenty other reviews saying the exact same thing.It stopped working two days after I got it. Horrible product.was so excited to receive this. WHAT a let down. The item never worked. Called Purmist customer care and at this point am still waiting to receive a new one.
